Detailed Itinerary
01
Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, complete immigration and collect your luggage before meeting your High Asia Tours representative outside the arrival terminal. The arrival process, including obtaining your visa (if applicable), clearing immigration and collecting your luggage, typically takes around one hour. You will then enjoy a private transfer to your centrally located hotel in Kathmandu.
Most international flights arrive in the afternoon or evening, so the first day is kept relaxed. After some time to rest at your hotel, join your guide for a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepalese restaurant, where you can enjoy authentic local cuisine and receive a brief introduction to the journey ahead.
02
Kathmandu Exploration
After breakfast, drive to Bhaktapur, an ancient Newar city known for its traditional architecture, historic courtyards and rich cultural heritage. Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, where you can admire the 55-Window Palace, the Golden Gate, Nyatapola Temple and other historic monuments. Continue to Pottery Square, where local artisans shape clay by hand and display their finished pottery in the open courtyard.
Enjoy lunch at a traditional Nepalese restaurant near Bhaktapur Durbar Square, with an opportunity to experience the local cuisine and atmosphere of the old town.
In the late afternoon, return towards Kathmandu and visit Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and an important centre of Tibetan Buddhism. Observe pilgrims circumambulating the massive white dome and explore the monasteries and traditional shops around the stupa. After your visit, return to your hotel in Kathmandu.
03
Kathmandu – Chitwan
After breakfast, visit Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist sites in Nepal. Set on a hilltop overlooking the Kathmandu Valley, the stupa offers panoramic views of the city. Explore the main shrine, prayer wheels and surrounding monasteries before heading to the airport for your flight to Bharatpur, the gateway to Chitwan.
Upon arrival, meet your local representative and transfer to your jungle resort near Chitwan National Park. After some time to settle in, enjoy a gentle Rapti River boat ride in the late afternoon, when the sun is less intense. The ride offers a chance to observe the river landscape and look out for birds and other wildlife along the banks. You can then take a short nature walk in the surrounding area with a local naturalist.
In the evening, enjoy a Tharu cultural program at the resort. This lively presentation introduces you to the traditional music and dances of the Tharu community, the indigenous people of the Chitwan region. Return to your room for an overnight stay in Chitwan.
04
Chitwan Exploration & Jungle Safari
Today, we explore Chitwan National Park, one of Nepal’s most celebrated wildlife reserves and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After breakfast, set out on a full-day jungle safari with an experienced naturalist. Explore the park’s diverse habitats and look for some of its remarkable wildlife, including the one-horned rhinoceros, deer, wild boar, crocodiles and a wide variety of bird species. With luck, you may also spot the elusive Bengal tiger.
Spanning approximately 952 square kilometers (368 square miles), this rich ecosystem is home to an extraordinary diversity of wildlife. With over 543 species of birds and 68 species of mammals, the park offers the rare opportunity to spot the one-horned rhinoceros, sloth bear, leopards, and, with luck, the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger in their natural habitat.
The safari may include a combination of jeep exploration and nature activities, depending on the park’s regulations and the arrangements made by your resort. Enjoy a packed lunch or a meal at a designated location during the day.
Return to your resort in the late afternoon. The evening is free for you to relax after a full day in the jungle. Overnight stay in Chitwan.

This impressive fortress, built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, is renowned for its stunning design and historical significance. 15-day visa
30-day visa
90-day visa
However, for this tour, the 15-day visa would suffice.

This Nepal Bhutan tour does not rush you through landmarks. Tours begin slowly. We have to be mindful of altitude, distance between sites, opening and closing timings, and the beat of local life. Each morning begins differently but follows a familiar pattern that balances exploration with rest.
Morning time
Breakfast is at the hotel. The tour usually begins at 9:00 am unless you have to wake up early for a sunrise view or an optional mountain flight. In Nepal, people usually get up early for temple visits before the city fully wakes. The same is true for Bhutan. The guide will arrive in the morning and explain the day’s route, walking times, and cultural context, helping travelers understand not just where they are going, but why it matters.
Late Morning
By mid-morning, the journey continues by road or short flight. In Nepal, during a drive, scenery shifts quickly from urban neighborhoods to terraced hillsides and river valleys. In Bhutan, roads wind gently through forests of pine and rhododendron, passing villages where daily life continues unchanged. Stops are frequent and purposeful. A heritage site or a quiet viewpoint often becomes a moment of connection. These pauses allow time to observe, photograph, and absorb the landscape rather than simply pass through it.
Afternoon
For lunch, guides take you to clean and hygienic restaurants which provide the best food in the region. They ask for you preferences before deciding on a suitable restaurant. Afternoons are dedicated to deeper exploration. This may mean walking through a UNESCO World Heritage site in Kathmandu, exploring a dzong in Bhutan, or visiting a craft center. The pace remains relaxed, allowing time for questions and conversations.
Light walks are common, especially in Bhutan. Trails lead through farmland, prayer-lined paths, and small settlements. These activities offer insight into everyday traditional life. These walks are not strenuous, but they add depth to the journey, and connect travelers with the land beyond monuments.
Evening
As evening approaches, the tour slows again. Check-in at the hotel is followed by time to rest, freshen up, or simply sit with a cup of tea as the mountains darken. Guests can choose whether to dine at the hotel or some other restaurants. All requests and preferences are honored. Dinners are often a highlight, featuring local dishes prepared with regional ingredients.
In Nepal, evenings may include cultural performances or time to explore nearby streets. In Bhutan, nights are quieter. Conversations tend to linger over dinner.
The Pace of the Journey
A typical day on this Nepal Bhutan tour is never rushed and neither is it idle. It is formed by balance. between movement and stillness, learning and leisure, structure and spontaneity. Over time, this rhythm becomes familiar, allowing travelers to feel less like visitors and more like participants in the journey. This day-to-day flow is what defines the experience, and it is perfectly embedded into our Nepal Bhutan Tour 14 Days itinerary.
Culture
