Detailed Itinerary
01
DAY
01
Arrival in Kathmandu. At Tribhuvan International Airport, you’re met and driven south-west, out of the city’s tension and into something else entirely. Pharping, a small settlement with a monastery on the hillside, still and self-contained. The air shifts as there is less dust, more green. The valley opens up, but the noise falls away. It feels like being allowed to pause. There’s time and nothing is demanded. You might sit, walk, or just watch the sky change over the terraced hills. In the afternoon, there’s a quiet gathering, an orientation of what’s to come.

The day begins with a morning meditation session, followed by breakfast at the guesthouse. Before lunch, we gather for a group discussion focused on Buddhist philosophy.
After lunch and a short rest, we set out on a pilgrimage to the sacred stupa of Swayambhunath. Often referred to as the “Monkey Temple,” Swayambhunath is one of the oldest and most revered religious sites in Nepal. The stupa is believed to have risen spontaneously when the Kathmandu Valley was a great lake, making it a deeply symbolic site in both Buddhist and Hindu traditions.
We climb the stone steps leading to the hilltop, where the iconic white dome and gilded spire watch over the valley. Prayer flags flutter in the wind, and the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha gaze out in the four cardinal directions. From the top, we enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu as the sun begins to set.
We return to Pharping for dinner, followed by a guided meditation session. This will be our third and final night at Pharping.

Following our morning meditation and a nourishing breakfast, we pack our belongings and depart Pharping, continuing our journey toward one of Nepal’s most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage sites — Namobuddha.
Set in the serene hills east of the Kathmandu Valley, Namobuddha is immersed in legend. It is believed to be the place where a young prince, moved by compassion, offered his own body to a starving tigress and her cubs- an act of selfless generosity that lies at the heart of Mahayana Buddhist teachings.
Upon arrival at our peaceful resort, where we will stay for the next two nights, we enjoy a freshly prepared lunch surrounded by sweeping views of terraced hills and the snow-capped Himalayan range in the distance.
The afternoon is free to rest, explore the surrounding landscape, or simply take in the tranquil atmosphere. After dinner, we gather for a quiet meditation session to close the day, before settling in for the evening.

We begin the day with a peaceful morning in Junbesi, birdsong in the trees, prayer flags catching the early light, and the crisp air of the highlands. After breakfast, we set off on a sacred walk to Thupten Choeling Monastery, one of the most revered centers of Tibetan Buddhism in the Himalayas.
The trail winds uphill, quiet and meditative, with panoramic views opening up behind us. As we ascend, there’s a palpable shift, a deepening silence, a feeling of drawing nearer to something timeless. And then, nestled against the hillside, the golden rooftops of Thupten Choeling emerge.
Founded by Trulshik Rinpoche, a master of the Nyingma tradition and a close disciple of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, the monastery became a sanctuary for hundreds of monks and nuns who fled Tibet. Today, it is a living embodiment of devotion and resilience, a place where the ancient teachings are preserved and practiced every day.
We spend time here unhurriedly — witnessing the gentle rituals of monastic life, walking the kora around the monastery, and taking in the low murmur of chants drifting from the temple. The air feels different here — quieter, thinner, yet full of meaning. If the opportunity allows, we may receive blessings or sit quietly in the prayer hall during a puja.
In the late afternoon, we descend slowly back to Junbesi, carrying with us the stillness and insight of this rare experience. We spend another restful night in the village, under stars scattered like prayer beads across the sky.

Trip Info
This is a complete spiritual tour in Nepal, designed for those seeking deeper connection, inner stillness, and insight into the heart of Buddhist philosophy. Blending guided meditation, mindful walking, and immersive teachings, this carefully curated meditation tour offers the chance to pause, reflect, and reconnect, both with yourself and with the living spiritual heritage of the Himalayas.
You’ll visit powerful sites such as Pharping, Namobuddha, and Thupten Choeling Monastery, where the spirit of Tibetan Buddhism is felt in every stone and chant. Days unfold gently, beginning with silent mornings and ending with reflective evenings. Along the way, you’ll meet teachers, walk ancient trails, and take part in practices that have guided seekers for centuries.
This Buddhism-focused spiritual retreat is also a meditation tour in Nepal, ideal for those who value presence over pace, who are drawn to sacred places and meaningful conversations, and who are open to stillness as a form of discovery. However, this tour also offers amazing views of the Himalayas while also giving you an in depth idea of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Nepal that has endured for centuries.
Spring (March – May)
Spring is one of the best times to embark on this spiritual and nature-based journey. The hills around Namo Buddha burst into color with blooming rhododendrons, wildflowers, and clear blue skies. The weather is warm and pleasant, ideal for outdoor yoga sessions, short hikes to the monastery and nunnery, and meditative walks through the forests. Temperatures during this season range from 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F), offering comfortable conditions both during the day and in the early mornings or evenings.
Autumn (Mid-September – November)
Autumn is another peak season for this tour, especially favored for its stunning views and serene atmosphere. After the monsoon, the air is crisp and clean, and the skies are incredibly clear—making it a perfect time for hiking, photography, and connecting deeply with the spiritual environment. The fields are golden with harvest, and festivals in nearby villages bring a festive charm. Temperatures typically range from 12°C to 24°C (54°F to 75°F). Evenings can be a bit chilly, so a warm layer is recommended.
Throughout the journey, meals are thoughtfully prepared to complement the retreat’s peaceful rhythm and spiritual focus. At Neydo Monastery and Namo Buddha, guests enjoy wholesome vegetarian cuisine, often cooked by resident monks or local staff using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The meals are simple yet nourishing. Think hearty soups, steamed vegetables, rice, and traditional Tibetan or Nepali dishes, all served in serene monastic surroundings. In the guesthouse at Namo Buddha, expect organic food, with many ingredients grown on-site.
During your time in Pharping, there are also opportunities to taste authentic Newari meals, as well as home-cooked fare in a warm, community-based setting. Meals are served in a quiet, mindful atmosphere, often without distractions, inviting you to slow down and truly savor the food as part of the experience.
For all city transfers and sightseeing in and around Kathmandu, we provide comfortable private sedans for solo travelers or pairs, ensuring a smooth and relaxed travel experience. For groups of three or more, we arrange well-maintained mini-buses or coasters, equipped with air conditioning and ample space for both passengers and luggage. These vehicles are driven by experienced local drivers familiar with the routes and rhythms of the city.
As the journey moves into the hill regions, particularly the drive from Namobuddha to Phaplu and onwards to Junbesi, we switch to reliable 4WD SUVs. These vehicles are selected for their ability to handle the changing terrain and winding mountain roads with ease. Comfort and safety remain our top priorities, especially during the longer scenic drives into the Solu Khumbu region. Whether you’re navigating urban streets or ascending Himalayan roads, each vehicle is chosen to support your journey with stability and care.
Throughout this journey, you’ll stay in a selection of thoughtfully chosen lodgings that mirror the essence of the tour—peaceful, authentic, and deeply connected to the local culture. From monastery guesthouses to eco-lodges and family-run retreats, each accommodation offers a unique experience that complements the spiritual and natural exploration of Nepal.
Your stay begins in Pharping, a sacred village nestled in the hills southwest of Kathmandu. Here, you’ll be accommodated in a serene guesthouse, possibly within or adjacent to a monastery complex. The environment is calm and sacred, surrounded by forests and cliffs imbued with spiritual energy.
In Namo Buddha, one of Nepal’s most revered pilgrimage sites, you’ll reside in a tranquil monastery guesthouse or a locally-run eco-lodge. These accommodations are simple yet comfortable, designed to support mindfulness and rest. Each room is clean and comes with basic modern amenities, including an attached bathroom and hot showers.
As you venture into the Solu Khumbu region, accommodations will be in family-run teahouses and guesthouses. These lodgings offer a warm Sherpa welcome, with cozy rooms and hearty meals. While amenities are basic, the hospitality and surrounding natural beauty provide a comfortable and enriching stay.
Upon returning to Kathmandu, you’ll stay in a comfortable hotel that offers a restful environment to reflect on your journey. In Boudhanath, your accommodation will be near the magnificent Boudha Stupa, allowing you to soak in the spiritual ambiance of this sacred site.
Across all locations, the focus is on simplicity, cleanliness, and a connection to the local environment and culture. These accommodations are more than just places to rest—they are integral to the immersive and transformative experience of your journey through Nepal.
As part of this Meditation tour in Nepal, guided meditation sessions are woven gently into the rhythm of each day. These sessions are led by experienced practitioners and are suitable for both complete beginners and those with an existing practice. Whether held in monastery halls, under prayer flags in the hills, or in the quiet of your retreat lodge, each session is designed to help you slow down, center your breath, and cultivate presence.
We explore core techniques rooted in Buddhist meditation, including mindfulness, compassion-based practices, and silent sitting. Evening meditations often reflect on the day’s teachings or experiences, offering space for integration and calm. These moments of stillness may be a part of the itinerary but they are the heart of the journey, supporting the deeper purpose of this spiritual retreat.
