Altitude and Acclimatization on this Nepal Bhutan Tibet Tour
Although this Nepal Bhutan Tibet tour is not a trek, parts of the journey reach high elevations. Tibet in particular has major cities and monasteries above 3,500 m. Your body will need time to adapt. We structure the itinerary to allow gradual acclimatization during the overland drives and overnight stops.
Mild symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, or headaches can happen when you arrive in places like Lhasa or Gyantse. Drink plenty of water, walk slowly, and avoid alcohol on the first days at high altitude.
We recommend spending the first night in a lower-altitude stop before reaching higher destinations when possible. If you listen to your body, acclimatization is smooth for most travelers.
Our guides are trained to monitor altitude discomfort and ensure a safe and comfortable journey.
