Do you want to sample the best views of Mount Everest without going too high? If this is what you are looking for, then this trek is best recommended for you. Plus, you will combine your trekking with some unique culture and have an opportunity to meet the famous Sherpa people while getting to know their culture and tradition. A 45-minute mountain flight from Kathmandu will take your group to Lukla, from where the exciting trek in the Everest region will begin.
While the second day of the trek to Namche Bazaar is strenuous, you will forget the strain soon, as you spend two days in Namche Bazaar - the commercial Sherpa Hub of Everest region. Our ultimate destination is Tengboche Monastery, probably the most venerated Buddhist Monastery in Everest region. Here, each expedition team stops and gets blessed by the chief Lama for the success of the trip. Tenboche monastery issurrounded by mountains and there are excellent views of Mount Everest, as well as AmaDablam, which is considered to be the most beautiful mountain in the region. Spending an additional day in Tengboche, we retrace trek down to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.
Day 01: Kathmandu to Lukla (2827m).
Day 02: Phakding to Namche Bazar (3446m).
Day 03: Rest at Namche Bazar.
Day 04: Namche Bazar to Tengboche (3867m).
Day 05: Rest day at Tengboche.
Day 06: Tengboche to Namche Bazar.
Day 07: Namche Bazar to Lukla.
Day 08: Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla.
Day 01: Kathmandu to Lukla (2827m)
Fly 45 minutes to Lukla then an easy walk of around 3 hours to Phakding (2,652m). The trail descends steadily along the banks of the DudhKoshi River, passing Sherpa villages and mani stones before reaching Phakding for an overnight stay.
Day 02: Phakding to Namche Bazar (3446m)
After a slight climb to Jorsalle, we pass a waterfall, magnificent forests of rhododendron, magnolia and giant first and several villages. The final leg is a steady uphill from the river crossing to Namche Bazar. Along the way we can catch our first glimpses of Mt. Everest.
Day 03: Rest at Namche Bazar
Today is a rest day at Namche Bazar for altitude acclimatization. Here we can explore the village and take side trips to nearby villages.
Day 04: Namche Bazar to Tengboche (3867m)
We start the day with an easy three hours walk to Phunki. Along the way, one can see blue sheep, musk deer and different Himalayan animals and birds. After crossing the river we make a steep ascent for another 3 hours to Tengboche. Tengboche offer beautiful and dramatic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cholatse, Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Amadablam.
Day 05: Rest day at Tengboche
Today is the day to take in the magnificent mountains views including Everest, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Kang Taiga, Thamserku, Kwangde, Cholotse, Taboche, Numbur, and Khantang. We can also tour the Monastery which is considered the highest monastery in the world.
Day 06: Tengboche to Namche Bazar
Today we return via the same trail to Namche Bazar.
Day 07: Namche Bazar to Lukla
Retrace our steps to Lukla. Reconfirm our flight and hope for good weather so the planes from Kathmandu are in time.
Day 08: Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla
If the weather permits, our plane from Kathmandu will come just in time and once again we can enjoy the spectacular mountain flight to Kathmandu.
