This tour takes you to a journey through beautiful places like Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Varanasi. If you are fond of architecture, nature, different culture and adventure, in this tour of North Indian Highlights, you will explore many fascinating sights that include all of the aforementioned. The exciting Northern Indian Highlights tour begins in the capital city of India – Delhi and while not known as a tourist city, there are a number of sites that are of cultural and historic importance in Delhi.
The journey heads out to discover Jaipur from Delhi. Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and because the whole city is painted with pink color, Jaipur is also famously known by the name of Pink City! Jaipur is an existing testament to the glorious history of Rajasthan. Rajasthan’s history of war and bravery, rivalry and conspiracy, love and romance of its kings are still being talked about by the walls and chambers and the courtyards of the palaces and forts. The forts and palaces are beautiful and signify finest example of art and architecture. On the way from Jaipur to Agra, a brief stop by the ruins the Fatehpuri Sikri – an abandoned capital of the emperor Akbar and while at Agra, the Taj Mahal awaits you. Taj Mahal is the seventh wonder of the modern world and simply poetry in the marble. This ivory-white marble mausoleum is the most extravagant one ever made for love by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his Queen Mumtaz.
The tour continues to Orcha overland, stopping to see the Gwalior Palace and Fort. We will have an opportunity to visit the villages and deserted monuments at Orcha, along with our next destination will be Khajuraho - the city of Kamasutra Temples. Khajuraho is a small village in Madhya Pradesh (Central Province of India) having a collection of temples with charismatic and dynamic erotic sculptures base on Hindu Mythology- the Kama Sutra. From Khajuraho, we fly to the divine city of Varanasi - the Mecca of the Hindus. The center of religious activities here are the bathing piers known as ghats on the holy River Ganges and you can observe it best via boat. Another important highlight will be Sarnath – a place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after being enlightened. With this tour to divine city, we come to an end of this exciting and remarkable tour and take a flight back to Delhi.

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi.

Day 03: Delhi-Jaipur (160miles, 04 hrs).
Day 04: In Jaipur.
Day 05: Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri-Agra (163 miles, 07 hrs).
Day 06: In Agra.
Day 07: Agra-Gwalior-Orchha (141 miles, 6 hrs).
Day 08: Orchha-Khajuraho (109 miles, 5 hrs).
Day 09: Khajuraho/Varanasi by Air.
Day 10: At Varanasi.
Day 11: Varanasi-Delhi.
Day 12: Departure.
Day 01: Arrival in Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, you will meet your High Asia representative at the airport and get transferred to hotel. Take a rest to recover from jet lag.
Day 02: Delhi
After breakfast at the hotel, there will be a full day city tour by visiting the sites and highlights of Old and New Delhi, including Raj Ghat, Chandini Chowk, Jama Masjid, India Gate, President House, Rajpath, Qutab Minar and Humayun's Tomb. Optional dance and dinner at Chor Bazaar in Delhi.
Day 03: Delhi-Jaipur (160miles, 04 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Jaipur. En route, visit Amer Fort where you will take and enjoy an elephant ride from the base to the top like the Maharajas did in their time. At Amber fort, you will visit Sheesh Mahal, Ganesh Pol, Shila Devi Temple and Kesar Kyari Bagh. After the tour, continue to Jaipiur and check in to hotel.
Day 04: In Jaipur
After breakfast, you will set out to explore the Pink City with its lovely palaces and architecture. You will visit Hawa Mahal (Palace of Wind), City Palace - where the Maharaja of Rajasthan still resides, Jantar Mantar and also other sights. In the late afternoon, you will visit the local bazaar which is vibrant with daily activity.
Day 05: Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri-Agra (163 miles, 06 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Agra - the glorious city of Taj Mahal. En-route, visit Fatehpur Sikri - a city built in red sandstone by Emperor Akbar to commemorate the birth of his son-now a deserted city. A royal city perfectly preserved, Fatehpur Sikri provides a marvelous escape into the past. Imposing gateways and light- filled palaces were built in red sandstone within this fortified city only to be abandoned a few years later. Among its much architectural gems are the palaces for his queens - Jodha Bai, Mariyam and his Turkish sultana, built in varying styles, each perfect in itself. Later on, proceed to Agra. On arrival, check into the hotel and take rest.
Day 06: In Agra
In the morning, you will visit Taj Mahal, the biggest attraction of this trip. Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the modern world and is the most extravagant monument ever made for love. To people all over the world, Taj Mahal, mausoleum of the Mughal Empress Mumtaz Mahal is synonymous of India. Taj Mahal is followed by a trip to Red Fort, the seat of Mughal rulers for several years. The fort has palaces with pavilions, gardens, mosques, baths etc. The rest of the day is free to pursue independent activities. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 07: Agra-Gwalior-Orchha (141 miles, 6 hrs)
Early morning, we will leave Agra to head to Orcha. En route, if time is flexible, you will visit the Fort and Jai Villas Palace of Gwalior. Continue to Orcha; check in the hotel and after refreshments, go for sightseeing in Orchha. Throughout the day, you will walk around this beautiful village with deserted monuments. You will observe its rural life and monuments like Jehangir Mahal built by Bundela rulers to honor the Mughal Emperor, Raj Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, Chhatries Dinman Hardaul's Mahal and Sunder Mahal. There are also temples built by Bundela rulers such as Chaturbhuj Temple and Laxminarayan Temple. In the evening, you will visit Ram Raja Temple to observe Aarti or traditional offering to God.
Day 08: Orchha-Khajuraho (109 miles, 5 hrs)
You will continue the journey to Khajuraho - the city of Kama Sutra Temples. Check into the hotel. After refreshments, you will visit the world famous Western group of temples. These temples were built by Chandela rulers out of sandstone and decorated with charming and lively erotic sculptures from Hindu Mythology the Kama Sutra.
Day 09: Khajuraho / Varanasi by Air
In the morning, you will visit the Eastern Group of Temples which includes the famous Jain Temples followed by a visit to the Southern group of Temples such as the Chaturbhuj and Duladeo Temples. By the time the sightseeing concludes, it’s time to report at the airport for your flight to Varanasi. In 40 minutes, you will land in the holy city of Varanasi famous for Hindu Studies. After some refreshments, you will take a tour of Sarnath and its Deer Park where Lord Buddha preached for the first time after being enlightened. There are magnificent Stupas built in the third century BC by Emperor Ashoka.
Day 10: At Varanasi
In the morning, take a boat trip on the holy Ganges and observe the vibrant everyday activities along the Ghats that include cremation services of Hindu dead. Other places of interest are Tulsi Manas Temple, Alamgir Temple, Bharat Mata Temple and Kashivishvanath Golden Temple.
Day 11: Varanasi-Delhi
We will take a flight to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to hotel. You have free time to pursue your own interests.
Day 12: Departure
Transfer to airport for your international flight back home.
