North Indian Highlights

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi

Upon arrival inDelhi,your High Asia Representative will meet you at the airport and you will be transferred to hotel. Take a rest to recover from jet lag.

Day 02: Delhi

After breakfast at the hotel, a full day city tour, visiting the sights and  highlights of Old and New Delhi,including Raj Ghat, ChandiniChowk, Jama Masjid, India Gate, President House, Rajpath, QutabMinar and Humayun's Tomb. Optional dance and dinner at ChorBizaare in Delhi.

Day 03: Delhi-Jaipur (160miles/04 hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Jaipur. En route, visit the Amer Fort where you will take an elephant ride from the base to the top like the Maharajas did in their time. At Amber fort, you will visit Sheesh Mahal, Ganesh Pol, Shila Devi Temple, and KesarKyariBagh. After the tour, continue to Jaipiur and check in to hotel.

Day 04: In Jaipur

After breakfast, you will set out to explore the Pink City, its palaces and architecture. You will visitHawaMahal (Palace of Winds), the City Palace-where the Maharaja of Rajasthanstill resides, JantarMantar, and other sites.  In the late afternoon, you will visit the local bazaar which is vibrant with daily activity.

Day 05: Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri- Agra (163 miles/06 hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Agra -the glorious city of TajMahal . En-route, visit FatehpurSikri-a city built in red sandstone by Emperor Akbar to commemorate the birth of his son-now a deserted city. A royal city perfectly preserved, FatehpurSikri provides a marvelous escape into the past. Imposing gateways and light- filled palaces were built in red sandstone within this fortified city only to be abandoned a few years later. Among its much architectural gems are the palaces for his queens - JodhaBai, Mariyam and his Turkish sultana, built in varying styles, each perfect in itself. Later proceed to Agra. On arrival, check into the Hotel and take a rest for the evening.

Day 06: In Agra

In the morning, you will visit the TajMahal, the biggest attraction of this trip. This is one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world and is the most extravagant monument ever made for love. To people the world over, the TajMahal, mausoleum of the Mughal Empress MumtazMahal, is synonymous with India. The TajMahal is followed by a trip to Red Fort, the seat of Mughal rulers for several years. The fort has palaces with pavilions, gardens, mosques, baths, etc. The rest of the day is free to pursue independent activities. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Agra - Gwalior - Orchha (141 miles/6 hrs)

Leave Agra early morning for Orcha. En route, if time permits, you will visit the Fort and Jai Villas Palace of Gwalior .Continue to Orcha; check in hotel and after refreshments, go sightseeing inOrchha. Throughout the day, you will walk around this beautiful village with deserted monuments. You will observe its rural life and monuments like JehangirMahal built by Bundela rulers to honor the Mughal Emperor, Raj Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, ChhatriesDinmanHardaul'sMahal and Sunder Mahal. There are also temples built by the Bundela rulers such as the ChaturbhujTemple and the LaxminarayanaTemple. In the evening, you will visit Ram Raja Temple to observe Aarti or traditional offering to God.

Day 08 Orchha-Khajuraho (109 miles / 5 hrs)

You will continue the journey to Khajuraho-the city of Kama Sutra Temples. Check into hotel. After refreshments, you will visit the world famous Western group of temples. These temples were built by Chandela rulers out of sandstone and decorated with charming and lively erotic sculptures from Hindu Mythology the Kama Sutra

Day 09 Khajuraho / Varanasi by Air

In the morning, you will visit the Eastern Group of Temples, which includes the famous Jain Temples, followed by visit to the Southern group of Temples such as the Chaturbhuj and the Duladeo Temples. By the time the sightseeing concludes, it’s time to report the airport for your flight to Varanasi. In 40 minutes, you will land in the holy city of Varanasi famous for Hindu Studies. After some refreshments, you will take a tour of Sarnath and its Deer Park where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon after being enlightened. There are magnificent Stupas built in the third century BCby EmperrorAshoka.

Day 10: At Varanasi

In the morning, take a boat trip on the holy Ganges and observe the vibrant everyday activities along the Ghatsthat includes the cremation services of Hindu dead. Other places of interest are TulsiManas Temple, AlamgirTemple, Bharat Mata Temple, and Kashivishvanath Golden Temple.

Day 11: Varanasi-Delhi

Flight to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to hotel. You have free time to pursue your own interests.

Day 12: /Departure

Transfer to airport for your international flight back home.
