Delhi-Jaipur-Agra-Orcha-Khajuraho-Varanasi

The trip begins in Delhi-the capital City of India. May be not a very appealing city for a longer stay but some sites are of cultural and historic importance which you wouldn’t like to miss out. From Delhi, the journey heads out to Jaipur-the capital of Rajasthan, famed as the Pink City for the whole city is painted with pink color! Jaipur still carries the testimony of the glorious history of Rajasthan. The walls and chambers and the courtyards of the palaces and forts still speak the history of war and bravery, rivalry and conspiracy, love and romance of the kings of the Rajasthan. The forts and palaces also have beautiful arts and architectures. On the way from Jaipur to Agra, you will briefly stop by the ruins the Fatehpuri Sikri-which is the abandoned capital of the emperor Akbar. At Agra, awaits you the Taj Mahal-the seventh wonder of the modern world! Simply poetry in the marble, Taj Mahal is the most extravagant monument ever made for love.

The trip continues overland to Orcha, stopping to see Gwalior Palace and Fort. At Orcha, we visit the villages and deserted monuments. Khajuraho-the city of Kamasutra Temples is the next destination. A small village in the Madhya Pradesh (Central Province of India) has Group of Temples with charming and lively erotic sculptures based on Hindu Mythology- the Kama Sutra. From Khajuraho, we fly to the holy city of Varanasi-the Mecca of the Hindus. Bathing ghats of the holy River Gangjes are the center of religious activities and best way to observe them is by boat. You will also visit other Hindu Temples as well as Sarnath-where Lord Buddha had given his first sermon after being enlightened. The trip concludes here in this holy city and you will take return flight back to Delhi.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi

Upon arrival at Delhi , High Asia Representative will meet you at the airport and you will be transferred to hotel. Take rest to recover jet lag.

Day 02: In Delhi After breakfast in the hotel, a full day city tour, visiting the sightseeing highlights of Old & New Delhi including Raj Ghat, Chandini Chowk, Jama Masjid, India Gate, President House, Rajpath, Qutab Minar and Humayun's Tomb. Optional dance & dinner at Chor Bizaare in Delhi.

Day 03: Delhi-Jaipur (160miles/04 hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Jaipur. En route, visit the Amer Fort where you will take an elephant ride from the base to the top like the Maharajas did in their time. At Amber fort, you will visit Sheesh Mahal, Ganesh Pol, Shila Devi Temple, Kesar Kyari Bagh. After the tour, continue to Jaipiur and check in hotel.

Day 04: In Jaipur

After breakfast, you will set out to explore the Pink City, its palaces and architectures. You will visit Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), The City Palace-where still resides the Maharaja of Rajasthan, Jantar Mantar etc. In the late afternoon, you will visit the local bazaar which is vibrant with the daily happenings.

Day 05: Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri- Agra (163 miles/06 hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Agra -the glorious city of Taj Mahal . En-route, visit Fatehpur Sikri-a city built in red sandstone by Emperor Akbar to commemorate the birth of his son-now a deserted city. A royal city perfectly preserved, Fatehpur Sikri provides a marvelous escape into the past. Imposing gateways and light- hearted palaces were built in red sandstone within this fortified city only to be abandoned a few years later. Among its much architectural game are the places for his queens - Jodha Bai, Mariyam and his Turkish sultana, built in varying styles, each perfect in itself. Later proceed for Agra . On arrival, check into the Hotel and take a rest in the evening.

Day 06: In Agra

In the morning, you will visit the Taj Mahal, the biggest attraction of this trip. This is one of the 7 Wonders of the modern world and is the most extravagant monument ever maid for love. To people the world over, the Taj Mahal, mausoleum of the Mughal Empress Mumtaz Mahal is synonymous with India. Followed by a trip to Red Fort, which has been the seat of Mughal rulers for several years. The fort has palaces with pavilions, gardens, mosques, baths etc. Rest of the day is free to pursue independent activities. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Agra - Gwalior - Orchha (141 miles/6 hrs)

Leave Agra early morning for Orcha. En route, if time permits, you will visit the Fort and Jai Villas Palace of Gwalior .Continue to Orcha; check in hotel and after refreshment, sightseeing of Orchha. Through out the day, you will walk around this beautiful village with deserted monuments. You observe the rural life and monuments like Jehangir Mahal built by Bundela rulers to honor the Mughal Emperor, Raj Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, Chhatries Dinman Hardaul's Mahal and Sunder Mahal. There are also temples built by the Bundela rulers such as the Chaturbhuj Temple , Laxminarayana Temple . In the evening, you will visit Ram Raja Temple to observe Aarti or traditional offering to God.

Day 08 Orchha-Khajuraho (109 miles / 5 hrs)

You will continue the journey to Khajuraho-the city of Kama Sutra Temples . Check in hotel. After refreshment, you will visit the world famous Western group of temples. These temples are built by Chandela rulers out of sandstone, decorated with charming and lively erotic sculptures from Hindu Mythology the Kama Sutra

Day 09 Khajuraho / Varanasi by Air

In the morning, you will visit the Eastern Group of Temples, which includes the famous Jain Temples, followed by visit to Southern group of Temples like the Chaturbhuj and the Duladeo Temples. By the time the sightseeing concludes, its time to report the airport for your flight to Varanasi. In the next 40 minutes, you will land in the holy city of Varanasi famous for Hindu Studies. After some refreshment, you will take the tour of Sarnath and its Deer Park where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon after being enlightened. There are magnificent Stupas built by Emperror Ashoka in the third century BC.

Day 10: At Varanasi

In the morning, take the boating trip in the holy Ganjes and observe the vibrant activities that go along the Ghatsevery day that includes the cremation services of Hindu dead. Other places of interest are Tulsi Manas Temple, Alamgir Temple , Bharat Mata Temple , and Kashivishvanath Golden Temple .

Day 11: Varanasi-Delhi

Flight to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to hotel. You have free time to pursue your own interest.

Day 12: /Departure

Transfer to airport for your international flight back home.
