Samtegang Winter Trek
10 Days/9 Nights
Paro-Thimphu-Punakha-Limukha-Chungsakha-Samtegang-Wangduephodrang-Thimphu-Paro
The Samtegang trek is suitable for beginners or those enthusiasts who want to experience some trekking in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. The trek is at low altitude, has short walking hours and covers short distances. The Samtegangtrail begins atPunakha, and passes through forests of pine, oak and rhododendron. During the trek, you will see Jhomolhari (23,995ft/7,315m) in the west and Kang Bum Peak (20, 665ft/6,300m) to the east. In addition to the sights along the trek, you will visit the fantastic Dzongs of Thimpu and Paro and experience, first-hand, the rich culture and traditions of Bhutan.
We recommend that you do not attempt this trek during the summer because of extreme high temperatures. Instead we recommend doing the trek in winter, when temperatures at night are around freezing and days are comfortably warm. Spring and fall are also fine to do this trek.
